Congratulations to Warren Mayer for being recognized as Swim Canada's Youth Male Swimmer of the Year and Coach Anne as Swim Canada's Youth Coach of the Year (Male Swimmer)!!

Congratulations Coach Anne Ottenbrite-Muylaert on her induction into the Durham District School Board Hall of Fame!

Successful school board alumni honoured in Durham

Anne Ottenbrite-Muylaert is a graduate of Henry Street HS in Whitby. She competed in swimming in the 1982 Commonwealth games winning two gold and one silver medal, a silver and bronze medal in the 1982 World Championships, two gold medals in the 1983 Pan American Games, and a gold, silver and bronze medal in the 1984 Olympics. Anne Ottenbrite-Muylaert was an Order of Canada recipient in 1985, inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, the Ontario Aquatic Hall of Fame, the Canadian Aquatic Hall of Fame, the International Swimming Hall of Fame, and the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame. 

Warren Mayer wins big at Ontario Junior International

Congratulations to Pickering Swim Club’s Warren Mayer on a great weekend at #OJI2015!! Selected as a member of the Swim Ontario Tour Team, Warren was a member on the following relay teams - gold medals in the 200 free mixed relay and the 400 men's medley relay (both gold medal relays broke meet records), silver in the 400 men's free relay, and bronze in the 800 men's free relay.On a personal note, Warren made 3 finals (just missing a 4th final in a swim-off), broke 8 club records in 4 events, and won a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke!! Well done!!

Pickering Swim Club wins awards!

Pickering Swim Club was recently awarded most improved female team at Festivals!

Paul Corkum also won Swimming Canada's special recognition award for volunteer of the year, and the award for excellence in officiating.

Coach Anne win's Queen's Medal

Anne Ottenbrite has been selected on behalf of His Excellency the Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada to be the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

This new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. This Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. Anne will be among all Order of Canada members invited to receive the Diamond Jubilee Medal for significant achievement and remarkable service. Anne will be joined bu several former vice-regal representatives and other notable Canadians who will be a part of the presentations.

The Diamond Jubilee Gala Celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Life of Service will be on Monday June 18th at Roy Thomson Hall.
